William Gummer’s other well known works include the Auckland Railway Station and the Dilworth Building.
The Beaux Arts tradition in architecture, with its emphasis on elegance and classical simplicity, was introduced to Hawke’s Bay by architect William Gummer (1884 – 1966). Gummer, arguably New Zealand’s greatest exponent of the movement, designed four homes in Hawke’s Bay, three of them for members of the Chambers family
